Welcome back to Sunday School! The fall session of Sunday School will begin on Sunday, September 2 with opening starting at 9:15 am, class time at 9:30 am and music at 10:30 pm. It is important to attend on time and regularly, especially those children who are in their confirmation instruction years. The opening session this fall will focus on “Worship Words.” Twelve words--Worship, Call to Worship, Invocation, Music, Confession, Creeds, Prayers, Scripture, Proclamation, Sacraments, Offerings, and Benediction—will be explained through children’s readings and activities to help participants understand each segment of a worship service. For example: When that person standing up front and talks a really long time, what is that part of the church service called? That part of the service is called the Sermon and the person talking is the Pastor. Parents it will be helpful if when you are in church with your family that you point out the segment that has been talked about in Sunday School. Sunday School classes will be studying the Old Testament starting with Jacob’s Family, Joseph and His Brother, and the life of Moses. Parent, it is your responsibility to bring your children to Sunday School! We have a great time learning about Jesus and a great staff of teachers to serve our children. Please enrich your child’s life and let them learn to know and to love their Lord. “Patchwork Pear”--Sunday, August 5 at 9:15 am Sunday School--Under the Big Top Tent Mat Emerick and his wife Deb are coming all the way from Grand Rapids, Michigan. They will excite and charm an audience with comedic juggling, and stories that lift the soul to the Glory of Jesus Christ. Mat juggles a variety of objects (beanbags, balls, rings, clubs, and basketballs), balances on a “rolla bolla” (a board on a cylinder), walks on his hands and more. Mat also does a style of mime and clown that is infused with the spirit of great silent movie comedians like Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton. Deb does the music and adds to the story telling. Come join us Sunday morning August 5 for this exciting event. Christian fun for the whole family. Mat will also be our guest at the Brats Festival on Saturday evening, August 4 with a strolling performance from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. This is really Mat’s forte as he uses a combination of juggling, mime, clowning and storytelling all into one. Don’t Miss This Presentation--Sunday, August 5--Sunday School Under the Big Top Tent—Featuring Mat and Deb Emerick from Grand Rapids, Michigan as the “Patchwork Pear” presenting Patchwork Pearable. Come join us at 9:15 am as Mat and Deb juggle, do mime, clown acting and story telling that lift the soul to the Glory of Jesus Christ. The Patchwork Pear (“Go and bear fruit”) are a pair of performing artists who find their highest calling and joy in the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To do this they presented what they call “Patchwork Pearables.” A patchwork of stories, songs, and pantomimes sharing the wonders of relationship with God. Many of the pearables are creative retellings of Jesus’ own parables as well as other Bible Stories such as: Ballad of John Henry—“…But by the grace of God, I am what I am.” 1st Corinthians 15:10 Juggler’s Dream (From an ancient Folk Tale “Peddlers Dreams”) “Freely you have received, freely give.” Matthew 10:8 Volunteers are needed next year to teach Sunday School. Pop Tab Pete is hungry as he has not been feed well over the summer, so continue to save your can tabs for the “Home Away From Home” at the Ronald McDonald House at Children’s Hospital in Columbus. The can tabs are the purist form of aluminum and are worth lots of dollars for this house. This is a wonderful way to show our Christian love by helping others who are in need. |
